Job Description

The Technical Writer assists with the creation and editing of end-user and internal technical documentation for applications. Documents include but are not limited to end-user manuals, release notes, configuration guides, online help, and internal training. Candidates must be able to execute multiple projects from concept to publication successfully.  ​


Requirements

Essential Responsibilities: 
  • Outlines, writes, and edits technical product documentation and internal user guides 
  • Researches and translates technical information into digestible content for both non-technical and technical audiences 
  • Collects data by interviewing SMEs, researching written material, attending training sessions, and using client’s software 
  • Develops and implements updates to existing documentation 
  • Attends assignment-related meetings to gather product information 
  • Cooperates with colleagues to propose and attend meetings, solve problems, and answer questions 
  • Performs testing of documentation and participates in peer review and editing processes 
  • Assists in the resolution of documentation issues 
  • Reports To: Technical Documentation Manager 
Minimum Qualifications: 
  • 5 years technical communication experience 
  • Experience documenting software developed in an Agile environment 
  • Experience with moderately complex projects 
  • Comfortable gathering information from SME’s 
  • Ability to adhere to and comply with defined procedures and policies 
  • Experience and proven ability to communicate effectively with business associates; accurate grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills are a must 
  • Attention to details and follows procedures/protocols  BA/MA in English, Journalism, Technical Writing/Communication, Linguistics, or similar field 
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • 6+ years of technical communication experience  Experience with documenting software in a SAAS/Agile environment 
  • Experience with Camtasia, Captivate, or other video editing software 
  • Experience with Confluence and Office Suite
  • Knowledge of logistics and transportation  Proficient with Adobe Photoshop or other photo editing applications 
  • Working knowledge of web technologies, such as HTML and CSS
