Job Description

We are looking for a Lead Engineer to join our fintech SaaS product team. The ideal candidate should be highly fluent in Python/Django and have knowledge of React. The Lead Engineer will be responsible for analyzing and making decisions, breaking down designs into tasks, assigning them, managing sprints, team coordination, communication, and development. The Tech Lead should be able to take our completed designs and architect the requirements to implement those designs.
Responsibilities:
  • Understands and is fluent in our current architecture, especially Django Python.
  • Agrees with and has the same philosophy of our current architecture and processes.
  • Understands and is fluent in the applications’ functionality, user flow, and experience.
  • Takes our completed designs and architects the requirements to implement those designs.
  • Writes the stories and tasks in Shortcut.
  • Assigns the stories and tasks to the developers and educates them with a detailed explanation of the context.
  • Assigns the more challenging stories and tasks to themselves.
  • Manages and coordinates the progress of the developers, answers questions, etc.
  • Manages priorities and timelines.
  • Reviews the code in Beta, provides comments back to the developers.
  • Tests functionality (at least basic testing for consistency, not full QA testing).
  • Decides when and makes deployments to Production.
  • Leads Weekly Standup meeting (together with CEO) where all team members speak and describe what they worked on the past week and what they will work on the next week. Co-ordination issues are also resolved during this meeting, and priorities may be reset.
Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in software development.
Strong knowledge of Django Python and React.
Excellent understanding of software development methodologies, tools, and processes.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects and tasks.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
